LORETO, Mexico, May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Guests at Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto can get their just desserts with famous pastry chefs Johnny Iuzzini from "Top Chef: Just Desserts," Devin Alexander from "The Biggest Loser" and Waylynn Lucas from the Food Network, during Celebrity Pastry Chef Week hosted by Jonathan Bennett of "Cupcake Wars" from June 4 through 9.
Guests can satisfy their sugar cravings with specially prepared sweets, poolside pastry demos, and a decadent tea party celebration with chocolate treats.
"The foodie scene is alive and well in Mexico, and we at Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto are proud to offer one-of-a-kind culinary experiences to our guests," said Owen Perry, co-owner and president of the Villa Group.
Each of the chefs will demonstrate how to make mouth-watering desserts and during poolside demonstrations, meant to be fun and informative. The chefs will then make specialized pastries to accompany dinner at each of the resort's gourmet restaurants, with fun commentary from Jonathan Bennett, who is known for his breakout role on "Mean Girls" and hosts "Cupcake Wars" on the Food Network.
Bravo's "Top Chef: Just Desserts" head judge Johnny Iuzzini will take a turn preparing pastries for a five-course dinner at Danzante Restaurant, the resort's fine dining establishment that offers a fusion of traditional Mexican and contemporary recipes. In 2006, the James Beard Foundation awarded Chef Iuzzini "Outstanding Pastry Chef of the Year." Iuzzini is also the author of two cookbooks – "Dessert FourPlay" and "Sugar Rush."
Devin Alexander, known from NBC's weight-loss competition "The Biggest Loser," will prepare a treat to accompany a three-course dinner at Casa Mia, the resort's Italian-inspired al fresco dining option. Alexander is the author of eight cookbooks, including the New York Times Bestselling "Biggest Loser Cookbook" Series, "Fast Food Fix," "I Can't Believe It's Not Fattening!" and "The Most Decadent Diet Ever!" Alexander's unique approach to healthy cooking and her motivational personal story have landed her regular national television appearances for more than 10 years.
Food Network series "Cake Wars" judge Waylynn Lucas will also prep desserts for a five-course dinner at Danzante Restaurant. An award-winning pastry chef who takes joy in marrying the nostalgia of classic sweets with modern and exciting flavor profiles and techniques, Lucas currently owns and operates Fonuts, a new spin on the traditional coffee-and-doughnut shop.
The week will also include pastries from all three chefs at the Market Restaurant buffet, and an afternoon tea featuring a selection of chocolate desserts prepared by each of the pastry superstars.
In between the special activities, guests can work up an appetite with a variety of sea and land adventures like Hooka diving, night LED paddle boarding, kayaking, mountain biking, SCUBA diving, island tours and a round on the resort's new 7,400-yard Rees Jones-designed Danzante Bay golf course. The course offers golfers a challenging, yet friendly course that works with the natural beauty and serenity of the surrounding environment, boasting the famed Hole 17, which has been called "one of the best in golf."
All-inclusive guests can enjoy all the special activities included in the price of their food and beverage package (though there is a $15 per person fee to dine at Danzante Restaurant), while other guests can purchase the special meals a la carte at $39 per person at Casa Mia, $69 per person at Danzante Restaurant, $19 per person for the Tea Time, and $39 per person at The Market.
