LA VERGNE, Tenn., Jan. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The independent US-based industry consultant Fisher-Nickel (Frontier Energy Group) recently confirmed the outstanding position of technology specialist Meiko in the professional dishwashing market. The California-based consulting company, which specializes in the energy efficiency of commercial kitchens, mainly evaluated the resource consumption of three different transport dishwashers: the Meiko M-iQ as well as two different models from another market player. Their consumption values were field-tested in the facilities of major airline caterer as well as facilities on another company.
Here is one of the most significant findings of the study for operators:
The savings in operating expenses generated by state-of-the-art energy efficient technology are actually so significant that replacing older dishwashers can be highly recommendable – also if the replacement comes at a much earlier time than originally planned. The tested MEIKO dishwasher was named "best-in-class".
A full copy of the study including the details of testing conditions and results can be viewed at http://www.meiko.us/en/fisher-nickel-savings-with-M-iQ or downloaded directly from the Fisher Nickel website at (now Frontier Energy Group) http://etcc-ca.com/reports/energy-efficient-flight-conveyor-dishwashers.
Fisher Nickel stated in the report that "the Meiko unit saved at least 36% water and 37% energy over both [competitor] units (Table 1). The data was also additionally normalized for the throughput of each machine based on useful belt width.
This normalization yielded at least 52% water savings and 56% energy savings." (Fisher Nickel report 2017: Energy Efficient Flight Conveyor Dishwashers, page 2).
"It is important to note that [the machine of the other market player] was monitored in a more demanding [environment so that] the results would be improved slightly if it had been tested at the [same dishroom]." (Fisher Nickel report 2017: Energy Efficient Flight Conveyor Dishwashers, page 2).
According to the exemplary calculation by Fisher-Nickel in the concrete business case Fisher Nickel estimates an "annual utility cost savings potential of $58,303 for each older unit replaced with the MEIKO-'best-in-class' unit and makes the business case for the early retirement of the older machines at Gate Gourmet."(Fisher Nickel report 2017: Energy Efficient Flight Conveyor Dishwashers, page 3).
What makes these results so reliable?
Fisher-Nickel is a specialist in energy efficiency of commercial kitchens.
Fisher-Nickel conducted the study for an important reason:
"One of the major motivations for this study is to provide a business case for early retirement of even ENERGY STAR qualified machines with best-in-class equipment for food service operators." (Fisher Nickel report 2017: Energy Efficient Flight Conveyor Dishwashers, page 5).
"First and foremost, we are very happy for our customers. The results of the Fisher Nickel report provides them with the good feeling that they have made the best decision by choosing Meiko technology. We are, of course, perfectly acquainted with the performance values of our own machines. Uncompromising honesty with our own product promises is a hallmark of our company philosophy," says Dr. Stefan Scheringer, Meiko's CEO. The study's results were presented in January 2017 at the ASHRAE Winter Conference in Las Vegas and in February 2017 at ACEEE Hot Water Forum in Portland.
The MEIKO M-iQ dishwasher was named "best-in-class" in the mentioned report for its huge energy savings. Markus Braun, President Meiko US, comments: "Being named 'best-in-class' is a great compliment for us which motivates us to double our efforts working for the North-American market."
Why the MEIKO M-iQ is that efficient and uses so little energy and water is explained in a video by Dr. Allen Jakway, chemical and mechanical engineer, MEIKO R&D Offenburg, Germany:
