S&C Electric Company Appoints Kyle Seymour as New President
S&C Board Member Will Lead Ongoing Innovation of Power Delivery Solutions
CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- S&C Electric Company, a smart grid leader shaping the future of power delivery, today announces the appointment of Kyle Seymour as S&C president. Seymour, who has served on S&C's board of directors since 2010, succeeds John Estey, who will continue to serve full time as S&C's executive chairman. Seymour and Estey will work closely together to ensure a smooth, stable transition for customers and employees.
Seymour brings extensive leadership and manufacturing experience to S&C. He most recently served as president and CEO of XTEK, Inc., an employee-owned manufacturer of heavy-duty mechanical components for steel rolling mill drives and overhead cranes. Seymour has held this role for 11 years. Similar to S&C, XTEK brings industry-leading products developed for application in extremely demanding environments to customers worldwide.
"Electric power systems are essential to economic vitality and quality of life, and I am honored to lead a company with a century-long history of innovating solutions to the most challenging power delivery problems," says Seymour. "S&C is inventing some of the best products and solutions to meet 21st century demands, and I look forward to continuing that tradition."
Beyond significant leadership experience, Seymour shares a commitment to employee ownership, as well as S&C's mission of developing and manufacturing reliable products and delivering integrated solutions that provide the best long-term value to S&C's customers.
"I believe Kyle not only understands, but very much values the unique culture, history and guiding principles that have helped make S&C a success. Kyle has my unqualified support," says Estey.
"Whether it's grid automation technology, energy storage systems, or traditional switching and protection solutions– to name a few—our customers want grid technology that provides better reliability while increasing grid efficiency and capacity. Reliability and efficiency are critical in our digital world," says Seymour.
Seymour has also served on the board of directors of Hardinge, Inc., and as Chairman of the AGMA Foundation. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard. Seymour also served five years in the U.S. Navy, during which time he earned the equivalent of a master's degree in nuclear engineering from the Bettis Reactor Engineering School.
As executive chairman, Estey will focus on S&C customers around the world and external stakeholders including industry organizations, community relations, and legislators and regulators whose policies greatly affect the power industry.
