Schiavone Construction's Ethics and Corporate Compliance Officer Wins NJBIZ's Top 2012 Honor

SECAUCUS, N.J., Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ethics and Compliance Officer/Counsel Lorraine D'Angelo received the 2012 NJBIZ General Counsel of the Year Award for Corporate Compliance Professional / Private Company. The NJBIZ General Counsel Awards, sponsored by Real Estate Strategies Corporation and General Counsel Studio, brings recognition to New Jersey-area General Counsels and Compliance Professionals as "dynamic forward-looking executives, along with the companies for which they work."

She believes that the key to a successful ethics and compliance program is the creation of a culture of compliance supported from the top down that addresses the many regulatory issues particularly related to construction, such as disadvantaged and minority- and woman-owned business requirements, prevailing wage, prompt payment, and due diligence in executing certifications. D'Angelo has strived to make working with disadvantaged and women- and minority-owned businesses in government contracts a top priority. She has received praise from the state government for the policies and procedures like those in place at Schiavone.

D'Angelo has been an advocate for promoting compliance in the construction industry in her capacity at Schiavone, as well as overseeing Ethics & Compliance for three affiliated companies of Dragados S.A.  The program has evolved since Schiavone joined in 2008 and will continue to do so under D'Angelo's leadership.
