Scott Tucker Puts Another Record-Breaking Season in the Books

MADISON, Wis., Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a successful debut in the American Le Mans Series in 2010 where he earned the driver's championship in the LMPC class, Scott Tucker entered 2011 with high expectations.  Making the move to the LMP2 class in the ALMS and taking on global competition in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup brought increased challenges, but the team owner and driver came prepared.

After standing atop the podium for the opening two rounds of the 2011 ALMS season, Tucker and team turned their attention to the international racing season.  With a disappointing crash in Spa, Belgium, in May, the team quickly rebounded to face the biggest race of the year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

"Le Mans is the biggest race in the world," Tucker said.  "While we set out to win each race and to win championships, you can't look at Le Mans as just another race.  The competition is the best in the world, the circuit is among the most challenging anywhere and the 24 hour length is incredibly grueling."

But, the team showed remarkable fortitude, rebounding from the disappointment at Spa with a podium finish in its first appearance together at Le Mans.

"It was such a great effort from the team," Tucker said.  "I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished."

With that performance under his belt, Tucker continued with a hectic schedule that saw him compete in more ILMC and ALMS races, as well as Ferrari Challenge, SCCA, Porsche GT3 Cup and IMSA Lights races.

When the season came to a close at Road Atlanta in October, Tucker and Level 5 Motorsports had claimed the 2011 driver and team championships in their inaugural season in the LMP2 class, just as they did a year before in the LMPC.  The team overcame adversity and even a mid-year chassis change to earn its place among racing's elite.
