SDI Presence LLC to Provide Systems Integration and Airport Expertise for Advanced Event Management Platform at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

CHICAGO, Oct. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SDI (SDI Presence LLC), the mission-critical IT systems integrator, announces that it is a key subcontractor to prime contractor Saab Sensis, which was selected to deploy an advanced Event Management System (EMS) for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Working closely with partner Saab, SDI will provide on-site project management, integration and professional services, including the integration of Saab's Aerobahn surface management solution with the new SAFE EMS.

"The SDI Team brings significant technical depth and airport operations expertise to our team and will ensure that SAFE will embody best practices from Phoenix Sky Harbor and other major airports in the US. We look forward to combining their system integration, implementation, and risk mitigation skills with Saab's state-of-the-art EMS solution," said Anders Carp, head of Saab's Traffic Management business unit.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is one of the ten busiest in the nation for passenger traffic with a $79 million daily economic impact, serving approximately 40 million passengers per year. On a typical day, more than 1,200 aircraft arrive and depart; more than 120,000 passengers arrive and depart; and more than 800 tons of air cargo is handled. The Airport is owned operated by the City of Phoenix through the Aviation Department.

The Department chose to implement an advanced EMS as a comprehensive replacement to the current Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, for use by the Airport Command Center (CC) as a keystone application. Already familiar with Saab's Aerobahn solution, the Airport selected Saab's innovative and user-friendly SAFE EMS software solution which provides an out-of-the-box CAD solution and facilitates a host of other security and operational systems functionality. Additionally, the integration of the SAFE solution with the existing Aerobahn system will immediately allow the City of Phoenix to holistically understand the effect incidents have on the entire airfield. The systems will deliver a key common operating picture to allow for focused application of critical resources at decisive times and places.

The SDI Team will provide an on-site team of airport technology and operations veterans, to provide project leadership, subject matter expertise, product configuration tailored to Phoenix's operations, systems integration, user training and system support services. SDI brings over 20 years of aviation experience to the Saab Team, providing complex security and IT systems deployments to both larger international airports as well as regional airports throughout the US. SDI's project-based and embedded teams deliver comprehensive security technology operation, design, implementation, support and maintenance services for airport security hardware (including computers/servers, displays, sensors, cameras, and peripheral devices) and software (including operating systems, custom/tailored applications, and "off-the-shelf" software). Using its low-risk and responsive service delivery model, SDI has deployed complex security systems in the live airport environments with no disruption to airport operations or unplanned downtime. SDI's hybrid of security and IT professionals are versed in aviation standards including Transportation Security Agency (TSA) Regulations (TSARs) parts 1542 and 1544 and FAA Regulations (FAR) 139; the firm is an active member of aviation and security technology industry groups including ACI, AAAE ALEAN and ASIS, all of which informs the firm's trusted advisory services for its portfolio of aviation clients.

"We have been aware of the great technology and functional fit that Saab has been providing airports over the years, and are excited to team with them in supporting the Phoenix Airport," states David Gupta, SDI Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to deploying an impactful event management system to enhance the Airport's domain awareness and overall security."
