New Search Experience is Powered by a Proprietary AI Engine to Allow Home Searchers to Use Language Rather Than Filters

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly two- thirds of current and potential home searchers are frustrated about not being able to search for a home based on what they care about. Today, Realtor.com^® is changing that with the launch of its new AI-powered search experience, which is designed to let people find homes the way they actually talk and type.

With this new tool, home shoppers can simply type what's on their mind and instantly see homes that fit their lifestyle, preferences, budget or personality. For example, a buyer might search "3-bedroom ranch-style with 2 bathrooms and a pool in Austin less than 5 years old." Realtor.com^®'s AI-powered search not only understands words like "ranch," but also analyzes listing photos to surface all one-story homes that match the bedroom, bathroom, location and amenity requirements.

According to a recent survey from Realtor.com^®, 62% of current and potential homebuyers find it frustrating to not be able to describe what they want in a home search, and 65% express frustration about not being able to search for a home based on what they care about.

This new feature uses AI technology to analyze and interpret listing details, matching what users ask for with what's actually in the home. Users can mix typing and the site's search filters, but most importantly, AI-powered search eliminates the most frustrating pain points. Today, with the new AI-powered search you can filter over 300 different terms and tags, in the future that number will be infinite.
