Seasoned Cartel Defense Litigator and Former Assistant Chief of the US DOJ Antitrust Division Joins Latham & Watkins

WASHINGTON, Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Latham & Watkins LLP¹ is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Prewitt has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department and member of the Global Antitrust & Competition Practice. She focuses on international cartel and antitrust matters.

Prior to transitioning to private practice in 2015, Prewitt spent 16 years as a trial lawyer in the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice (DOJ). She served as Assistant Chief of the Antitrust Division in the New York office from 2012 to 2014. Prewitt also served as a Visiting International Enforcer to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition in Brussels. While at DOJ, Prewitt twice received the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service (the DOJ's second highest award) and the Assistant Attorney General's Award. 

Prewitt represents major global and domestic corporations facing criminal and civil antitrust investigations initiated by federal, state, and foreign antitrust enforcement agencies, and also provides related antitrust compliance counseling. She has extensive experience handling cross-border antitrust matters that frequently involve major cartel enforcement regimes in countries beyond the US, including in Europe and Asia.  Prewitt has served as lead trial counsel for the government and today represents companies in antitrust litigation.

Prewitt joins Latham from Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from Brown University in 1992 and graduated cum laude from Loyola Law School in 1998.
