Second City Joins The Forum for 4th Annual Think Tank
Oct. 26 Conference Integrates Improv into Core Business Teachings
NAPERVILLE, Ill., Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- While the business climate today is certainly no chuckle fest, The Forum: Business Results Through People is joining improv hotbed Second City to help companies improve their bottom line using a little levity.
Scheduled for Wed., Oct. 26, 2011, The Forum's Fourth Annual Think Tank, entitled "The Enrichment Experience: Engaging Great Minds and the Power of People in the Workplace," will offer a unique discovery experience focusing on the enrichment of people in the workplace.
"This will be a Think Tank like none other," says The Forum President Keith Fenhaus, who is also president of Hallmark Business Connections. "The Forum's most recent research will be brought to life through attendee interaction and improv at Second City-Chicago. This new venue and format will facilitate learning Second City style and focus on the core of all business – people. And, when you get right down to it, it's not about the company – it's all about the people."
Forum Academic Director Frank Mulhern, Ph.D. of Northwestern University will be joined by keynote speaker Nick Sarillo of Nick's Pizza, Forum Research Director Dr. Jennifer Rosenzweig, and cast members of Second City Communications.
Tom Yorton, CEO of The Second City Communications, says performers use improv techniques to help corporate workers communicate in more natural ways.
"Business schools often miss teaching some of the most important skills – soft skills that in the end are not so soft after all. We help people read a room, create and innovate, resolve conflict and build trust. That's stuff our actors know how to do really well."
The inaugural Forum Think Tank was held in 2008 and has been an annual event since then. For more than 50 years, Second City has been the training ground for the most famous improv comedians. Mark your calendar for this interactive day with business leaders, employee engagement professionals, academic scholars and members of Second City.
