CLEVELAND, Aug. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SecureState, a management consulting firm specializing in information security, has been added to the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council's (SSC) list of 10 companies approved to investigate potential PCI data breaches in the United States.

The PCI Forensic Investigator (PFI) program establishes and maintains rules and requirements regarding eligibility, selection and performance of companies that provide forensic investigation services to ensure they meet PCI Security Standards.

"This is a testament to our commitment to help clients bring their organizations to a secure state, and to the quality of our incident response capabilities," Ken Stasiak, SecureState CEO said. "I am excited to offer our support to companies who have experienced a card holder data breach by helping to ease their frustration and guide them through a difficult process."

After an arduous application process, SecureState was recognized as meeting all the rigorous requirements of the PFI program.

"As a management consulting firm, we recognize that enterprise crisis management is a key component to incident response.  We now have the ability to combine the two for the PCI community," Stasiak said.

The PFI program provides a single set of requirements for forensic investigators to ensure that PCI investigations are conducted by adhering to industry recognized standards.

"Being a PFI company means we meet the standards set by SSC to be trusted with a company's business, future and reputation," said John Melvin, SecureState Incident Response Lead. "That's a responsibility we dutifully accept as one of the best information security companies in the nation."

SecureState applies a business model to everything they do, which raises organizations from their current state, to a desired state, while accounting for the Principle of Three Forces: time, change and resources, to help them reach their goals of getting to a managed or "SecureState."

As a PFI, by following this model SecureState is best positioned to guide businesses to a managed, or SecureState, while keeping them from falling into a deteriorated state.
