Segway Unveils 'Street Legal' Xyber Air Electric Bike

The brand's latest e-bike pairs the futuristic moto styling of its wildly popular Xyber in a lighter, more responsive Class 3 package for less than $2,000.

When it was launched in 2025, the bold, moto-inspired aesthetic and blistering off-road performance of the original Xyber took the e-bike industry by storm and it quickly developed a dedicated enthusiast following. The all-new Xyber Air preserves the core DNA of the original icon in a lighter, more responsive package that adheres to Class 1, 2 and 3 e-bike designations, making it more accessible and versatile for even more riders.

Iconic Looks
The Xyber Air carries forward the distinctive angular frame language of its namesake in a cleaner silhouette for a more contemporary interpretation of the moped-style e-bike, making it bold and recognizable among the proliferation of retro-inspired clones in the category. While competitors look to the past, Segway forges into the future. Signature front and rear X-shaped lights bookend the sleek-yet-aggressive profile.

Powerful Performance
With 750 watts of nominal power and 80 Nm of torque, the Xyber Air delivers zippy acceleration of 0 to 20 mph in just 9 seconds. Featuring selectable Class 1, 2 and 3 operation where permissible, the Xyber Air tops out at 20 mph in Class 1 (pedal assist) and 2 (pedal assist or throttle) and 28 mph in Class 3 (pedal assist). A Hybrid Mode also allows throttle operation up to 20 mph and pedal assist to take over up to 28 mph without switching modes. Segway's Algorithm 2.0 intelligently uses real-time data from cadence and gyroscopic sensors to deliver smooth and natural pedal assist. Riders can expect up to 58 miles on a single charge thanks to a 717-Wh battery.

Comfort & Control
A dual-crown front fork with 80 millimeters of travel smooths things out when the going gets rough and 20 x 4-inch tires provide an optimal blend of traction and comfort. Two-piston hydraulic disc brakes front and rear with 180-millimeter rotors scrub speed and provide safe stops with power and consistency.

Intelligent Design
Like Segway's other e-bikes, the Xyber Air incorporates the Segway Intelligent Ride System, a suite of smart technologies designed to improve security, safety and convenience. AirLock auto unlocking, Apple Find My and real-time GPS as well as a motion alert alarm and Lost Mode remote disabling help provide peace of mind.

A brilliant, full-color TFT display ties the cockpit together with navigation, real-time ride metrics and can connect to and control music on the rider's phone as well as hold or reject calls. It even automatically adjusts brightness depending on ambient light conditions for maximum viewability.

Automotive-grade features like a traction control system (TCS), hill descent control with regen and hill start assist improve confidence and control. A 600-lumen automatic headlight paired with a taillight and brake light help riders see and be seen when daylight ends before the ride does.

Adaptive Compliance
Like Segway's other on-road e-bikes, Xyber Air is designed to adapt to e-bike regulations across different regions. Thanks to Segway's connected vehicle technology, performance parameters can be configured to meet local requirements without requiring changes to the underlying hardware. Xyber Air will be compliant with applicable New York City and New York State e-bike regulations at launch, with updates to Segway's existing e-bike lineup in the region rolling out through the end of October.

Accessories
Sold separately, several accessories will be available for the Xyber Air to improve function and utility. A fender set ($79.99) adds to the moto-inspired aesthetic and helps keep the bike and rider clean and dry even if the road isn't. A rear rack ($79.99) with built-in bungee attachment points carries up to 22 pounds and a hardshell in-frame bag  ($99.99)  designed to match the lines of the frame is weather resistant and features a built-in combination lock to keep precious cargo secure.
