Selective Insurance Group Announces Officer Appointments

BRANCHVILLE, N.J., Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Selective Insurance Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIGI), announced the following appointments by its subsidiary, Selective Insurance Company of America:

Bruce Monahan (Newton, NJ), to senior vice president, chief audit executive. Mr. Monahan joined Selective in November 2007 as vice president of Internal Audit. Prior to that, he was assistant vice president at Liberty Mutual Group. Mr. Monahan holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, an M.B.A. from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies, Information Technology, from New York University in New York, NY.  He holds designations as a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Financial Services Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Financial Manager, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Associate in Insurance Accounting & Finance, Certified in Control Self-Assessment, and Certified in Risk Management Assurance.

Richard Agresta (Madison, CT) to vice president, Insurance Operations Systems. Mr. Agresta joined Selective in May 2012.  Prior to that, he was assistant vice president, Account & Portfolio Management at the Hartford.  Mr. Agresta holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT and earned the Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundations Certification.

Timothy Marchio (East Hanover, NJ) to vice president, Bonds. Mr. Marchio joined Selective in June 2012.  Prior to that, he was bond manager at Liberty Mutual Agency Corporation.   Mr. Marchio holds a B.S. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, NJ.

David McKenna (Fitchburg, MA) to vice president, Claims Finance, Metrics and Strategic Projects.  Mr. McKenna joined Selective in September 2010 as assistant vice president, director, Claims Metrics. Prior to that he was with Homesite Insurance in Boston where he was the manager of Claims project services. Mr. McKenna earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, MA, an M.S. in Information Technology Management from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, and holds a certificate in Project Management.

Melinda Oosten (Northville, MI) to vice president, Personal Lines Pricing.  Ms. Oosten joined Selective in April 2012.  Prior to that, she was chief actuary with Ally Insurance.  Ms. Oosten earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), and serves on the Casualty Actuarial Society's Committee on Professional Education. 

Wesley Riley (Matthews, NC) to vice president, underwriting manager for Selective's Southern Region.  Mr. Riley joined Selective as an underwriter in 2000, becoming an agency management specialist in 2004 and most recently serving as territory manager for North Carolina and South Carolina.  Mr. Riley earned a B.S.in Business Administration from Appalachian State University, Boone, NC and holds designations as a Certified Insurance Counselor and a Certified Risk Manager.

Jay Goldberg (Marlboro, NJ) to assistant vice president, director of Internal Audit.  Mr. Goldberg joined Selective in June 2012.  Prior to that, he was vice president of Internal Audit for Take-Two Interactive Software.  Mr. Goldberg holds a B.A. in Biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA and an M.B.A. from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University in Waltham, MA.  He holds designations as a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Financial Services Auditor, as well as a Certification in Risk Management Assurance.  He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Stephen Wright (Yardley, PA) to assistant vice president, Product Development, for Stonecreek Specialty Underwriters, a unit of Selective Insurance Company of America.  Mr. Wright joined Selective in May 2012.  Prior to that, he was director of product development for Global Indemnity Group. Mr. Wright holds a B.S. in Finance from Babson College in Wellesley, MA.  He holds designations as both a Certified Insurance Counselor and an Associate in Marine Insurance Management.
