Senator Barbara Boxer Endorses Troy and Alana Pack Patient Safety Act, Says Consumer Watchdog Campaign

LOS ANGELES, March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United States Senator Barbara Boxer has endorsed the Troy and Alana Pack Patient Safety Act, a pending California ballot measure to modernize California's patient safety laws.  The Pack Act promotes justice for patients and legal deterrence to wrongdoing by adjusting the state's malpractice cap to account for 38 years of inflation, while maintaining the existing cap on attorneys' fees. Last week 844,000 voter signatures were filed with registrars of voters statewide to place the measure on the November ballot.

Seven year old Alana Pack and ten year old Troy Pack were killed on a roadside by a doctor-shopping drug addict who ran them over after being overprescribed thousands of narcotics at Kaiser and falling asleep at the wheel. Their father Bob Pack authored the Pack Act to increase accountability for medical negligence and substance abuse.
