SENATORS KATIE BRITT AND PETER WELCH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SENATE PROJECT CONVERSATION SERIES OCTOBER 19, 2026 AT EDWARD M. KENNEDY INSTITUTE
FOX News Channel's Martha MacCallum will moderate the seventh installment of the ongoing series, co-hosted by the Kennedy Institute and the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation
BOSTON, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate (EMKI) and the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation announced that the 2026 installment of The Senate Project series will feature U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-AL) and Peter Welch (D-VT). As the media partner for The Senate Project, FOX News Media will cover the conversation live on FOX Nation and FOXNews.com on Monday, October 19 at 11:00 AM ET.
The in-depth discussion will tackle timely topics for Senators Britt and Welch — including interactions and collaborations with fellow senators during their tenure — with particular emphasis on their combined recent efforts on bipartisan legislation to curb the effects of social media on youth mental health and to forecast water-related disasters.
Martha MacCallum, anchor and executive editor of FOX News Channel's (FNC) The Story with Martha MacCallum, will moderate the fireside chat style conversation in front of a live audience at the Kennedy Institute's full-sized replica of the United States Senate Chamber, the only one of its kind. Later in the day, she will also host her top-rated program from EMKI at 3 PM ET.
"Bipartisan conversations and collaboration are vital to our nation and democracy. We welcome the opportunity to host Senators Britt and Welch as they explore how they have found common ground together in order to move our country forward," said EMKI Interim CEO Joe Hale.
"As we prepare for the seventh installment of The Senate Project, this series continues to demonstrate that strong differences of opinion need not prevent senators from finding common ground, said Hatch Foundation Executive Director Matt Sandgren. "We look forward to Senators Britt and Welch joining us for a substantive and civil conversation."
Previous debates have featured:
2025 — John Fetterman (D-PA) and David McCormick (R-PA)
2024 — Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
2023 — Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Joni Ernst (R-IA)
2023 — Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Chris Coons (D-DE)
2022 — Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Rob Portman (R-OH)
2022 — Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
The Senate Project series brings together sitting U.S. Senators from opposing parties to the Kennedy Institute's headquarters in Boston, MA, to engage in civil dialogue about current political issues, with the goal of identifying solutions and bridging partisan divides. The series, reflecting the shared mission of the Kennedy Institute and Hatch Foundation to advance bipartisanship and civil dialogue, served as the inspiration for the popular "Common Ground" segment on FNC's top-rated program Special Report with Bret Baier.
