SeniorHomes.com Announces Spring-Summer 2017 Student-Caregiver Scholarship Winners
Two U.S. College Students Awarded $1,000 Grants
SAN MATEO, Calif., May 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SeniorHomes.com is excited to announce the latest winners of the SeniorHomes.com Caregiver Scholarship. Focusing on full-time studies while providing the best possible care for a loved one can be challenging. This scholarship helps student-caregivers who are in excellent academic standing at a U.S. college or university with a $1,000 scholarship that can be applied toward their tuition or books.
Our expert judges selected two winners based on their written submissions. Each candidate wrote about how the scholarship would impact their life as a student and the loved one they care for. These are the winners for Spring-Summer 2017:
- ANDREA VUONO is a student at Northeastern University studying speech-language pathology and caregiving for her father.
- MONICA SCHNAPP is a student at the University of San Diego studying higher education leadership and caregiving for her father.

- Mary Ellen Nessmith: Mary Ellen wants to live in a world where people age and retire so they feel supported not only by their employer but by their community and families. As an Elder Care Specialist with more than 15 years of experience, Mary Ellen has held professional roles in corporate, private and nonprofit settings, including a decade with the Atlanta Regional Commission's Area Agency on Aging. Mary Ellen was hired in December 2015 to manage the Emory Caregiver Support Program. She spends much of her time consulting with faculty and staff on campus helping them navigate the many complex responsibilities involved with caregiving.
- Jane Hamil: Jane is a professional geriatric care manager at Bridging Generations. She's been serving the metro Atlanta, Georgia since 1990 by providing customized care plans for seniors and their families and friends. She offers assistance with the emotional, social, health, and personal issues of aging.
