Ser Educacional launches an artificial intelligence software
SOFIA will support the learning process and academic development of the students
RECIFE, Brazil, Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ser Educacional, one of Brazil's largest groups of higher education, announced the adoption of an artificial intelligence software based on cognitive systems. In 2018, SOFIA – name given to the avatar who will work as an assistant tutor – will help teachers and students to increase the efficiency and absorption of the subjects taught, starting with the Entrepreneurship class, which is part of the curriculum in all courses of the group.
"We have been searching innovations and we have always been seeking improvements for our students, and that's how we discovered about SOFIA," says the VP of Services of the Ser Educacional Group, Joaldo Diniz. "It will be available to students 24/7, but it is important to clarify to that it will never replace the teacher. For us, the teacher is the core of any teaching institution," he adds.
SOFIA is a cognitive service platform, which consists of the process that human mind uses to acquire knowledge from information received. "It accumulates data, immediately answers questions and adapts to the learning process, providing students with the opportunity to answer their questions in real-time," says Jânio Diniz, the Group's CEO.
Jânyo says that this state-of-the-art technology will be able to evaluate the student's behavior in the classroom and suggest content plans: "It will help the students to improve their knowledge by capturing the information exposed by their authors and teachers, reducing the learning deficit. With this, we will have the digitization strength to enable us to compare data from different students and help them reduce any kind of knowledge deficit," he concludes.
The project, which will initially be used in distance-learning classes, will become a virtual platform that will feature videos, virtual library, games and interactivity. "We are committed to turning the Group into a company of knowledge transfer by digital means, and this is only the beginning," says Joaldo.
