If you purchased Repair Services for John Deere Large Agricultural Equipment from John Deere or a Deere-authorized dealer in the United States during the period from January 10, 2018 through May 18, 2026, you may get a payment from a class-action Settlement.
ROCKFORD, Ill., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A Settlement has been reached with Defendant Deere & Co. d/b/a John Deere ("Deere" or "John Deere") to resolve a class-action lawsuit that alleges Deere engaged in an anticompetitive scheme to withhold from customers and independent repair providers certain repair tools for Deere-manufactured agricultural equipment that depend for their functioning, in part, on electronic control units. This equipment includes large and medium tractors (all 6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000 Series models); combines; cotton pickers; cotton strippers; sugarcane harvesters; tillage, seeding (including planters), and application equipment and sprayers ("Large Agricultural Equipment"). Plaintiffs allege that customers were required to use Deere-authorized dealers for the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of their Deere Large Agricultural Equipment and, as a result, paid more than they should have. Deere denies any wrongdoing.
THE SETTLEMENT BENEFITS. Deere has agreed to an injunction requiring it to provide access to digital tools required for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of Large Agricultural Equipment. Deere will also pay $99 million, plus interest accruing since January 15, 2026, into a "Settlement Fund." After deduction for attorneys' fees not to exceed $45 million, litigation costs and expenses not to exceed $6 million, a $25,000 service award to each of the Named Plaintiffs, notice and claims-administration costs, and applicable taxes and tax-preparation expenses, the Net Settlement Fund will be distributed to Settlement Class members who submit valid and timely claims. At the time of this Notice, the total value of the Settlement is estimated by Plaintiffs' expert to be between $392.9 million and $747 million ($99 million in cash plus the value of the injunctive relief, which is estimated to be between $293.9 and $648 million).
YOUR OPTIONS.
- Submit a Claim by December 31, 2026;
- Opt Out of the Settlement by December 4, 2026. You must opt out of the Settlement if you want to keep the right to sue or continue to sue Deere for any claim arising out of or related to the claims in this Action;
- Object to the Settlement by December 4, 2026. If you do not opt out of the Settlement, you may write to the Court if you object to the Settlement or any part of it;
- Do Nothing. If you do nothing, you will not receive a payment, you will remain a member of the Settlement Class, you will be bound by any judgment dismissing with prejudice the claims against Deere, and you will not be able to file or maintain your own lawsuit against Deere regarding the subject of this Action. The Court may also decide whether to award attorneys' fees not to exceed $45 million, costs and expenses not to exceed $6 million, and service awards to the Named Plaintiffs.
