Sharegate Launches Industry Study on SharePoint & Office 365 Usage Worldwide

MONTREAL, Nov. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharegate, the Office 365 & SharePoint management tool is known in information technology circles for its simplicity and user-friendliness. In collaboration with Nintex and Hyperfish, they launched an industry survey in July 2016 in order to gain insight into SharePoint and Office 365 usage and deployment worldwide.
This study uncovers the details of exactly why and how organizations use Microsoft's powerful content management platform, what versions are most popular, and provides a glimpse into what they're looking for in the future.
With all the information collected, a few key insights were particularly compelling. Namely that, while most organizations are still using SharePoint 2013 (82% to be exact), there are signs of a shift in momentum towards the cloud. In fact, 61% of organizations are running either a hybrid or full cloud environment.
On the other hand, while Office 365 is gaining users on a consistent basis, those still adamantly clinging to on-premises versions, 36% of surveyed organizations to be precise, seem do be doing so based on concerns over cloud security. That speaks volumes about the future of SharePoint On-Premises and Office 365.
