Shefik Receives President's Volunteer Service Award for Charity Work

The award enables community organizations — as certifying and leadership organizations — to amplify their gratitude by joining with the President of the United States to thank their most dedicated volunteers.

Media personality and technology maven Shefik (http://shefik.info) has been honored with The President's Volunteer Service Award, for his charitable and philanthropic work throughout the past fiscal year. The award was certified by the Morgan, Marie, Michael Foundation (https://www.facebook.com/Morganmarie501c3), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established to assist individuals on the autism spectrum with opportunities, appliances, and channels for enhanced living. The founders of the organization, Alyssa Morgan Lego and Amanda Witkowski, were on hand to present Shefik with the award at the event "Shop. Sell. Strut!", an annual fundraiser of which he also served as Master of Ceremonies.

In 2003, the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation launched the President's Volunteer Service Award to recognize the importance of volunteers to America's strength and national identity, and furthermore, to honor the deeply invested volunteers whose service is multiplied through the inspiration they give others.

Today, the program continues as an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service, managed in partnership with Points of Light, an international non-profit organization with the mission to inspire, equip, and mobilize people to take action to change the world.

Throughout the fiscal year, Shefik was very active in the community. While his primary focus area was on autism awareness, his other civic duties consisted of supporting the work of Broadway Sing for Pride, a non-profit organization which brings together Broadway talent, activists, and celebrities to promote equality through song. On many occasions, Shefik lended his expertise as a guest speaker, videographer, and photographer for high-profile events presented by the organization. The events benefit the Tyler Clementi Foundation (https://tylerclementi.org), whose mission is to end online and offline bullying in schools, workplaces, and faith communities.

Shefik is currently celebrating over 20 years in the professional workforce. He began his career as an entertainment publicist. He later expanded his skillset to technology. It is apparent that he is on the cutting edge of multimedia, as he is Executive Producer and Host of the nationally syndicated radio show and internationally syndicated video series "Shefik presents Invocation" (http://invocation.co). The radio show has an audience of over half a million listeners monthly. Shefik uses this media platform to amplify the voices and acknowledge the thought patterns of people across a variety of ages, ethnicities, occupations, creeds, and belief systems.
