Oct 23, 2013, 08:15 ET from Reed MIDEM

PARIS, Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 2,300 developers and shopping centre owners will be at MAPIC to showcase their projects, giving retailers a unique three-day opportunity to find out about new site locations.

Organised by Reed MIDEM, MAPIC, the International Retail Property Market will be held in Cannes from 13 to 15 November.

"MAPIC continues to globalise by highlighting territories that demonstrate spectacular retail property development. China, India, Russia and Brazil will all be present to offer-highly promising growth prospects for international retailers, together with European developers aiming to export their know-how. MAPIC offers an opportunity to explore the latest industry trends, such as the digitization of outlets, building leisure and culture into the new generation of shopping centres, and pop-up stores, all of which will be showcased at the MAPIC Innovation Forum," says Nathalie Depetro, Director of MAPIC.

Here are some examples of projects presented at MAPIC this year:

Campo Grande Retail Center (Brazil)

An homage to the coffee growing region in Brazil, the Campo Grande takes direct inspiration from the coffee plantation houses that are prevalent throughout the surrounding area. At the heart of the development is a large exterior public garden that takes full advantage of the temperate climate of the region, allowing the dining court to be utilized and enjoyed year-round. As important as the regionalism in the design, the need for expansion was also a key factor in the development of the Campo Grande.

Suzhou Integrated Development (China)
Presented by CapitaMalls Asia

Strategically located in the West Jinji Lake CBD in Suzhou Centre, the development is surrounded by offices, hotels and high-end residential apartments. When completed, it will be the largest shopping mall in East China. The development is also expected to cater to the over 4.5 million residents in Suzhou and about 12 million residents in the Greater Suzhou region.

DLF Mall of India (India)
Presented by DLF

Spanning 1.8 million m² GLA, DLF Mall of India will be the largest shopping centre in the country. Planned and designed by the architectural firm Benoy, DLF Mall of India aims to become the only retail establishment with six customized shopping levels hosting international and Indian premium fashion, a dedicated kids zone, international cafes, food court and restaurants. DLF Mall of India also aims to redefine the way retail is perceived in India. The centre is scheduled to open in the spring of 2014.

Three mixed-use complexes (Russia)
Presented by Regions Group

These projects are a chain of mixed-use complexes featuring retail and entertainment centers and DreamWorks theme parks. The construction project will be implemented by 2018 in three Russian cities: St Petersburg, Moscow and Yekaterinburg. The aggregate area of the chain properties will amount to approximately 640,000 m².

Emaar Square (Turkey)
Presented by Emaar Turkey

This mixed-use project is Emaar Turkey's second project in Turkey. It will be located in Camlıca, on the Asian side of Istanbul spanning 66,000 m². The design and architecture of Emaar Square reflect the rich cultural heritage and spirit of the city, and will contribute to this new lifestyle destination, becoming a landmark attraction in the region. The project will comprise over 1,000 luxury homes, a 180-room 5 star hotel, offices, and a world-class shopping mall, one of the largest in Turkey.
