LOS ANGELES, July 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Shot Glass Films recently completed a branded content piece for TITLE Boxing, a top provider of boxing, MMA and martial arts equipment. Set in a gritty basement in downtown L.A., the spot, directed by Eric Jackson, is about one man's quest to be the best athlete he can be for no one other than himself. Golden Gloves boxer, Toryan Rogers, was cast in the principal role. The spot uses the 19th century poem, "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley, as a vehicle to tell the story of the boxer, while also making it suitably branded with the TITLE Boxing brand.
"This piece is not about championship belts or money," said Eric Jackson, Director of Shot Glass Films. "It's a modern interpretation of the poem, and directing it was very thought-provoking. I want people to know it's what they do when no one is looking that makes them great." He added, "As a content driven spot I was able to weave in not only the brand, but also reveal his raw, inner human emotions on camera…giving us all something to reflect upon, even days after."
The TITLE brand is at play throughout the spot. Every piece of equipment bearing the TITLE logo works to unleash the boxer's deeper passion for prizefighting and support his journey towards greatness. "When creating content, the challenge is to tap into something bigger and use it to showcase the brand," said Jackson. He commented, "This isn't about sporting goods. It's about harnessing the power we all have inside to realize our dreams".
"I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul."
Amateur fighter and Flint, Michigan native, Toryan Rogers, does a noteworthy job in bringing the poem to life. "Boxing got me out of trouble and kept me off the streets. It changed my life and gave me a purpose to do something with myself when I had no hope," said the boxer turned actor. No stranger to the fight game, the ex-pugilist competed in 60 amateur fights and won both Houston's Regional Golden Gloves and the Houston Nationals.
The one-minute "Invictus" spot for TITLE Boxing is available for viewing at Shot Glass Films' website: www.ShotGlassFilms.com. A shorter version will also be made available on social media websites.
