Shulman Family Law Group, Attorney For Laura Govan, Mother To Gilbert Arenas' Four Children, Responds To Recent, Disparaging Comments

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Yesterday, following a court-ordered, child support hearing, Gilbert "No Chill Gil" Arenas took to social media to mock and disparage Laura Govan, his girlfriend of 15 years and the mother to his four children, ages 5, 7, 9 and 10.

"Gilbert's attack on Laura, the mother of his children, is misogynistic and morally reprehensible," said family law attorney Maya Shulman, who represents Govan.  "Gilbert's attempt to publicly smear Govan's reputation demonstrates an outright disrespect for women and for mothers."

As reported on Wednesday by TMZ.com and BET.com, Gilbert's social media rants celebrated the reduction in his financial commitment to his family and inferred that it would create a hardship for his kids and for Govan's future business opportunities to support the family.

"I don't understand how a grown man and father can wish ill upon his own children," continued Shulman. "It's one things for the adults to not get along—but to bring his kids into the situation is reprehensible and takes it to a juvenile level."

Govan has made repeated attempts to keep the family's personal and private business out of the limelight, particularly for the benefit of their children.
