Company adopts the name of its research evaluation platform as it builds Tessa tools for the full lifecycle of scientific research
TUCSON, Ariz., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Siensmetrica, Inc., developer of the AI-powered Tessa research evaluation platform, today announced that it has changed its name to Tessa AI, Inc. The change, effective October 7, aligns the company with the name its customers and partners already use.
The original name, a coined word meaning roughly "knowledge measurement," reflected the company's start as a system for scoring published research. Since its May 2026 launch, Tessa has helped researchers, clinicians, and biopharma professionals evaluate biomedical studies, showing the evidence behind every score.
Scoring is now one part of a larger mission. Tessa AI is building Tessa tools that support a study across its entire life: strengthening manuscripts before submission, surveying whole fields of literature in a fraction of the usual time, helping the public check news stories against the research behind them, and evaluating work published decades earlier. Chief Science Officer Marvin J. Slepian, MD, JD, calls this the "natural history of scientific research."

Research evaluation has not kept pace with the volume of science being published. Peer review is stretched thin and sometimes gamed, citation counts can be padded, and prestige metrics often stand in for real evaluation. Tessa AI's leadership, a team of serial innovators, believes research is overdue for disruption. The company recently removed author reputation from the TScore so papers are judged on evidence alone.
