HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SightMD New York is pleased to announce that Cecilia Dong, MD, a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist, has joined the practice and is now seeing patients at its Flushing location.

Dr. Dong brings advanced expertise in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, cataract surgery, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses (IOLs), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and comprehensive eye care. Her patient-centered approach combines the latest advancements in ophthalmology with personalized treatment plans designed to help patients achieve and maintain their best possible vision.

Originally from Beijing, China, Dr. Dong earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) before receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. While in medical school, she became the institution's first recipient of the prestigious Research to Prevent Blindness Medical Student Fellowship.

She completed her Internal Medicine internship at New York Hospital Queens, followed by her Ophthalmology residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Dong then completed a glaucoma fellowship at Acuity Eye Group in California, gaining advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of complex glaucoma and cataract conditions.
