Sikara & Co. Jewelry Pop-up Store Opens on Newbury Street
BOSTON, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Sikara & Co., an internationally-inspired modern fusion jewelry company, opens its second U.S. "pop-up" store in Boston, MA.
After creating the business plan for Sikara & Co. while attending Harvard Business School in 2005, Mousumi Shaw, has returned full circle to Boston, where the dream was born.
"After spending six years living in Boston in my 20's, the international culture of this city inspired me to bring my vision to life. After the success we've seen with our first pop-up store in San Francisco, I knew Boston was a perfect fit for this new trend of store fronts," said Shaw.
In light of the current economy, the pop-up style store front is one of the newest trends to emerge in retail across the nation. The pop-up style store allows Sikara & Co. to open temporarily in Boston and market exclusive test collections before they roll them out nationally. Boston's Sikara & Co. features globally-inspired designs from India, Mexico, Italy, Egypt, Brazil and Spain. Soon this store will test launch, Sikara Travel, a line of travel items and accessories, including Thai silk laptop sleeves and leather passport holders, to go with its internationally themed jewelry.
"My travels have inspired me to work with a network of international designers to present a truly unique line of jewelry. When a person purchases a piece, they also learn about the history and culture pertaining to the country where the designer of the piece originates," said Shaw.
Every piece in the handcrafted line is made of sterling silver and every stone is semi-precious. Each piece goes through 10 to 12 hands while in production, making them truly handmade. Sikara jewelry is sold in more than 250 stores across the United States.
Sikara & Co is located at 292 Newbury St., Boston, MA 02115 1400sq. ft.
Hours of operation are – Sunday - Thursday (10-8pm) and – Friday & Saturday (10-9pm) Prices range from $60.00 - $900.00.
