SINGAPORE, Dec. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair 2015 surpassed previous editions in visitorship with a total of 10,018 visitors walking through its doors from October 22 to 25, 2015 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore. This increase in the number of trade buyers, jewellers, private collectors, members of jewellery associations and the public attending the event underlined the fair's position as the most significant fine jewellery event in Singapore and the region.
The four-day fair brought together 139 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions including Austria, Belgium, mainland China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, USA and Singapore. These exhibitors presented over 100,000 pieces of fine jewellery worth more than S$2.5 billion in ten product-themed and country pavilions. The Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair is the only event of its kind endorsed and supported by the Singapore Jewellers Association (SJA) and the Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES).
The fair hosted the certification ceremony for the first batch of local jewellery businesses endorsed under the CaseTrust-SJA Accreditation scheme. A total of 22 jewellers were officially certified for their stringent adherence to clear policies for refunds, practice of providing detailed cost breakdown and knowledgeable sales staff, amongst other criteria. The ceremony is symbolic of the fair's growing stature as the exclusive platform for announcement of new initiatives with industry-wide impact.
In addition, the Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair 2015 continued to provide a platform for young jewellery designers to showcase their talent and creativity. On the opening day, the Singapore Jewellery Design Award (SJDA) was presented to young jewellery designers and a selection of outstanding designs was showcased at the fair alongside many leading jewellers.
Riding on its scintillating success, the Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair 2016 will be back from November 4 to 7, 2016 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
