Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs Awards Contract to Decision Sciences for State-of-the-Art Scanning System to Enhance Checkpoint Security at the Port

POWAY, Calif., April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Decision Sciences International Corporation (Decision Sciences), the leading provider of advanced security and contraband detection systems, today announced it has been awarded a contract by the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs.  Under the terms of the contract, Decision Sciences will deploy its revolutionary Multi-Mode Passive Detection System Generation 3 (MMPDS Gen3) at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore, the world's largest transshipment hub.

Using its unique and passive cosmic ray tomography and gamma detection capabilities for detection, location, and identification of unshielded and shielded radiological and nuclear materials, as well as explosives, narcotics, cigarettes and other contraband, the MMPDS Gen3 will play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of Singapore.  The MMPDS Gen3 installation at the ICA Ports Command is expected to be the first of many such in-country deployments to more effectively protect Singapore, combat smuggling, and enhance the Port of Singapore's already world-class commercial performance.

The MMPDS Gen3's environmentally friendly, patented technology safely, securely, passively and automatically scans in 3D all types of vehicles, cargo containers and other conveyances.  In addition to being able to detect and identify radiological threats and known contraband, the MMPDS Gen3 – unlike other systems – is also "trainable" and incorporates advanced machine learning algorithms.  As the threat or contraband type changes, MMPDS Gen3's software library can be updated to help identify additional materials of interest.
