Sir Clive Woodward to be Keynote Speaker at IOSH 2016

Rugby World Cup winning coach Sir Clive Woodward will be the keynote speaker at the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health's (IOSH) annual conference.

Sir Clive led England to World Cup glory in 2003 and is also a successful businessman who is renowned for his leadership skills.

IOSH 2016 will be the final part of a series of three IOSH international conferences themed around leadership. It will allow delegates to build on the knowledge they gained at IOSH 2014 and IOSH 2015.

The two day event is being held at ExCeL London on 21 and 22 June.

The presentation by Sir Clive, who has previously written a book focusing on successful leadership, will open the second day of the conference.

Sir Clive said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to speak at IOSH 2016. Leadership is a vital part in any organisation. It is through good leadership that organisations can thrive.

"It is also key to ensuring safety and health management systems are put into place to ensure that people do not come to harm while they are at work, which in turn can significantly benefit an organisation.

There will be a series of plenary sessions over the two days, with topics including IOSH's research projects and the health of the nation.

Aside from those, guests can choose between four tracks of sessions to follow, depending on which best suits their requirements.

The tracks are: How to influence - internally and externally; Business risk and resilience; Innovation across programmes, strategy and technology; and Positioning for the future.

Each track will have five presentations from expert speakers and representatives from organisations across the world and a wide range of sectors. Delegates will hear about their insights, achievements and experiences to see how they can apply it to their own careers.

Speakers who have been confirmed already include: Dr Walter Eichendorf, Deputy Director General of German Social Accident Insurance; Gary Booton, Head of Health, Safety and Environment at Rolls Royce plc's supply chain; Malcolm Staves, Corporate Health and Safety Director of L'Oreal; and Keith Hole, Senior Health and Safety Adviser for Procurement, Engineering and Construction at Southern Water Services.

IOSH President Dr Karen McDonnell, who will open the conference with a welcome address, said: "IOSH 2016 is the biggest conference of its kind and plays a vital role in achieving a world of work which is safe, healthy and sustainable.

The conference usually attracts about 800 delegates. Those who attended last year said it provided them with important information relevant to their jobs.
