Sixth Annual Creighton Farms Invitational hosted by Jack Nicklaus Raises Record $1.4 Million for Children's Health Charities
ALDIE, Va., July 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2017 Creighton Farms Invitational hosted by Jack Nicklaus was held June 24-26, raising a record $1.4 million—a staggering total that almost doubled the highest fundraising total set in the event's prior five years. Beneficiaries of the 2017 Creighton Farms Invitational were the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation and The National PKU Alliance, two organizations providing support to children's health care and rare disease initiatives.
The three-day event was larger and even more exciting than in previous years, with the addition of a welcome party and concert at Cana Vineyards and Winery, featuring The Celebrity All-Star Band on Saturday evening, June 24. The following night, Golf Channel's Charlie Rymer hosted the annual gala dinner and auction for nearly 300 attendees at the Salamander Resort & Spa, where the top auction item, including a dinner cruise for eight people hosted by Jack and Barbara Nicklaus aboard the "Sea Bear," was sold twice for $75,000 each. Additionally, Jack Nicklaus entertained the crowd during a fireside chat with special guest Roy Williams, Head Basketball Coach at the University of North Carolina, the 2017 NCAA Champions.
The charity golf tournament on the final day saw the most attendees in Creighton Farms Invitational's history. Ninety-two golfers were hosted at Creighton Farms and each of the 23 foursomes were accompanied by a PGA TOUR professional. Touring pros in attendance included Troy Merritt, Ken Duke, Greg Owen, DJ Trahan, Ryan Brehm, Kelly Kraft, Rick Lamb, John Peterson, Michael Thompson, Kevin Tway, Cameron Percy, Derek Fathauer, Brian Campbell, David Hearn, Dicky Pride, Mark Anderson, Sam Saunders, Darron Stiles, and Mark Silvers, as well as two past winners of the Jack Nicklaus Award for Collegiate Player of the Year, Michael Kim and Patrick Rodgers. Other participating celebrities at this year's tournament were baseball great Roger Clemens and Golf Channel analyst Charlie Rymer.

The Creighton Farms Invitational was created in 2012, and was primarily the brainchild of David Southworth, President and CEO of Southworth Development LLC, which owns and operates Creighton Farms, a community featuring an award-winning Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Loudoun County, Va.
