PARAMUS, N.J., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SK Life Science, Inc., a U.S. pharmaceutical company and part of SK Biopharmaceuticals, today announced its support of SUDEP awareness initiatives led by CURE Epilepsy and The Cameron Boyce Foundation during #StopSUDEP Week, October 19-23, and throughout the month of October.
As part of its ongoing commitment to the epilepsy community, SK Life Science will match donations to CURE Epilepsy dollar for dollar up to $10,000, helping advance efforts to raise awareness of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), support critical research, and provide educational resources for individuals and families impacted by epilepsy.
SUDEP remains one of the most serious epilepsy-related risks. Through its longstanding support of CURE Epilepsy and The Cameron Boyce Foundation, SK Life Science is committed to helping ensure people living with epilepsy and their caregivers have access to information, resources, and conversations that empower them to make informed decisions alongside their healthcare teams. People living with epilepsy can work with their healthcare providers to support seizure management and discuss steps that may help reduce risk, including taking medications as prescribed, recognizing and avoiding personal seizure triggers, getting adequate sleep, limiting alcohol use, and considering nighttime monitoring when appropriate.
"Knowledge empowers action, and meaningful conversations can help individuals and families feel more informed and confident in managing epilepsy," said Sunita Misra, Ph.D., M.D., Chief Medical Officer of SK Life Science. "Our research has shown that important conversations about SUDEP are not always reaching the people who need them most. That is why we are proud to support CURE Epilepsy and The Cameron Boyce Foundation in their efforts to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and ensure the epilepsy community has access to educational resources that can help people better understand and address SUDEP risk."
"SUDEP awareness saves lives through knowledge, conversation, and action," said Beth Lewin Dean, MBA, MPA, Chief Executive Officer of CURE Epilepsy. "We are grateful for SK Life Science's partnership and support of this campaign. Together with The Cameron Boyce Foundation and advocates across the epilepsy community, we are all working to ensure more individuals and families have access to information about SUDEP while accelerating the research needed to better understand and ultimately prevent these tragic losses."
SK Life Science's support of SUDEP awareness efforts reflects the company's broader commitment to addressing educational gaps within the epilepsy community. Findings from the Hope, Hesitancy and Hard Truths survey revealed that nearly one in five people experiencing daily seizures reported they had either never heard of SUDEP or had not heard about it from their physician. The survey, available on www.sklifescienceinc.com, also found a disconnect between physician and patient discussions, with 88% of physicians reporting they discuss SUDEP compared with just 63% of patients recalling that conversation. These findings underscore the importance of continued education, awareness, and open dialogue about epilepsy-related risks.
Throughout October, CURE Epilepsy and The Cameron Boyce Foundation are bringing attention to SUDEP through awareness, education, advocacy, and fundraising initiatives designed to increase understanding of epilepsy and support ongoing research. The campaign encourages individuals, families, healthcare professionals, and advocates to learn about SUDEP, share resources, honor loved ones, and support efforts aimed at reducing epilepsy-related deaths.
