SkilledUp Partners With Goodwill to Help Lower-Skilled Workers Access the Job Training They Need to Find Employment
NEW YORK, March 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- It was announced today that SkilledUp, an online course discovery platform and division of Apollo Education Group, has partnered with Goodwill Industries of Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada, Inc. (Goodwill) to offer their Skills API directly on the organization's website beginning today.
While Goodwill is synonymous with their wildly successful donated goods retail model, each Goodwill also has a mandate to help lower-skilled job-seekers find employment. "This partnership offers a great opportunity to expand services to the community as we continue to assist people facing barriers to employment and education," said Goodwill President and CEO, Joe Mendez. By joining forces with SkilledUp, curators of the largest online courseware and skills marketplace, Goodwill will now be able to help workers improve their skill sets and secure jobs they may have not been otherwise qualified to attain.

Goodwill currently offers a job listings section on their website, allowing job seekers to search and apply for jobs. Job seekers will now be able to browse this section of the website and register for courses geared towards the jobs they're most interested in. Job seekers have over 170,000+ online courses to choose from through the SkilledUp API on topics ranging from Interview Success, Microsoft Office Training, and Sales Skills to entry-level Marketing, Design, and Programming courses. With 40% or more of the courses either free or under $100, the financial commitment isn't overly burdensome.
