Skyonic Corporation Expands Senior Management Team and Opens New Office

AUSTIN, Texas, July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Skyonic Corporation, a chemical engineering company developing technologies to safely recycle carbon emissions into economic mineral resources, today announced the addition of Scott Gardner as chief financial officer and Mario Zampieri as director of engineering.  The company expanded its senior management team as the commercial interest in innovative pollution control technologies increases, due to tightening emissions and air quality legislation.  Skyonic also has moved its headquarters to a larger facility in Austin to support the company's anticipated future growth.

Skyonic's patented SkyMine® process, designed to profitably capture and mineralize carbon emissions released by industrial smokestacks, recently was listed as an advanced combustion control technology for fossil fuel power plants in the EPA's Commercial Demonstration Permit Program. The program is part of the proposed revisions made to the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP or the "utility air toxics rule").  Published in the Federal Register, the program provides power plant owners with guidance on viable solutions, including SkyMine® to meet these new standards.

Gardner brings more than twenty years of corporate finance experience, having held various financial management positions at Metrosol, Inc., Crystal Semiconductor, Texas Instruments, and Active Power, Inc., where he was part of the team that took the company public in 2000.

As the director of engineering, Zampieri joins Skyonic with significant experience in the design, procurement and construction of refineries, chemical plants and power plants.  He previously led all engineering, procurement and construction activity for the Valero Flare Gas Recovery Project, and held a number of senior project manager roles at Worley Parsons, Technip USA, MW Kellogg, Brown & Root and Stone & Webster Engineering.  

Along with the expanded executive team, Skyonic has grown its business operations, relocating the company's headquarters to 900 S. Capital of Texas Hwy., Austin, TX 78746.  The new office will be used to accommodate the company's future growth as construction on the first commercial SkyMine® plant begins later this year.
