Slow Puncture in Zhuhai Cost Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo Another Podium Finish

It was an intense weekend for Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo at the Zhuhai International Circuit, which ended with a last-minute disappointment as spirits deflated along with the rear tyre, costing the team what would have been a strong podium finish. Once again the team showed its speed and great teamwork as they set the fastest time of the day during round 8 of the Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo but despite their speed and efficiency, luck was not on their side.

Zen Low started the race for the team from sixth place and despite the cooler weather, the team was still cautious with the brakes. As the lights turned green, Zen was off at a blistering pace taking two cars before turn one and kept it clean. Then at turn 12 he was 'pushed' off the line into the grass by Dilantha Malagamuwa. Zen managed to recover, losing one position and rejoined the race in a steady pace before handing the car over to his teammate Afiq Yazid.

Afiq was in a good position when he took the car from Zen. He started out cautiously, braking early at the turns to make sure they were not overheated. After a couple of laps, he started to put his head down and began to push, setting the fastest lap along the way. Just as he caught up to the leading pack, disaster struck the team. Afiq felt the rear slipping at the turns and the car felt 'nervous' under braking, he knew it was a puncture and brought the car in slowly to pit.

By the time he reached the pit, the rear left tyre was shredded and the team was down the order, almost two laps behind. After the tyre change, Afiq pushed on, crossing the line but just missing out the podium. However, the team still managed to collect vital Championship points for third in class. The team will be taking on the Shanghai race with a renewed spirit to secure a podium finish.

The team will follow the 2014 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia season with races in Sepang, Malaysia on 11th May, in Sentul, Indonesia on 8th June, in Fuji, Japan on 31st August, in Zhuhai on 21st September, in Shanghai, China on 19th October and in Sepang on 23rd November for the World Final.
