FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Feb. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety, creators of the national public safety database Smart911, today announced Smart911Connect, the first program connecting third parties holding data relevant to the emergency response process with supported 9-1-1 centers. Call takers and dispatchers within Smart911 connected public safety answering points (PSAPs) across the country can now automatically receive approved sources of data, including text and images, delivered to their workstation in real-time alongside a 9-1-1 call from a variety of different solutions and apps. Smart911Connect also provides call taking and dispatch solution providers with new market potential by allowing rich data to be embedded within products and applications, while eliminating complex sourcing, formatting and validating of these new forms of data.
"As we've learned with Smart911, additional data - when verified and delivered in a consistent and usable format - can greatly improve the emergency response process," said Brian Tegtmeyer, executive director of DU-COMM, one of the largest consolidated 9-1-1 centers in Illinois, providing public safety communications services to police, fire and EMS at thirty-eight agencies across DuPage County. "We've had great success with Smart911, trust the data it provides, and now look forward to receiving even more valuable information from its partners through Smart911Connect."
Smart911 supports PSAPs in 28 states that serve more than 300 municipalities, protecting millions of citizens. With Smart911, citizens create Safety Profiles online that contain details about their household they want 9-1-1 to have during an emergency. When a citizen places a 9-1-1 call, their Safety Profile is displayed to the call taker and data can be immediately relayed to teams in the field, allowing for a better understanding of a situation and more effective emergency response. For instance, fire crews can know such things as how many people live at a home and the location of bedrooms. EMS can know about specific medical conditions for fast, precise medical treatment. And because profiles contain photos, in the event of a missing child, police can gain an advantage by receiving an image in seconds versus hours.
Smart911Connect is a comprehensive program based on the patented Smart911 platform, providing the first open, standards-based programming interfaces for third parties to deliver diverse data sets to 9-1-1 centers. It features an approval process chaired by leading emergency communications professionals, audit trails and logging of all data displayed to telecommunicators, NG9-1-1 and CJIS compliant security, and public-safety-optimized user interface for rendering third party data at a PSAP.
Smart911Connect has already received widespread support from many leading solution vendors including the following:
- "Effectively delivering detailed real-time data on emergency callers from within a corporate campus has not been possible until now," said Tim Kenyon ENP, president of Conveyant Systems, a Smart911Connect beta partner and supplier of the Sentry E911 ELM Solutions and TeleDirectory PC-based operator consoles for the enterprise. "Combining our Sentry solution with the Smart911Connect platform exposes relevant real-time MLTS/PBX data from enterprise networks, providing call takers with an exact location within a large campus, and response instructions specific to that locale. As a result, the issues and expense with inaccurate and static private switch automatic location information (PS-ALI) can finally be eliminated."
- "Additional data is an important component of the applications being delivered in both NG9-1-1 and legacy E9-1-1 solutions," said Jeff Gillan, senior product area business manager, Cassidian Communications, a leader in mission critical communication, emergency notification and P25 land mobile radio. "Smart911Connect is one method that we will use to integrate rich additional data within our call taking applications."
- "Delivering critical data on callers and their environment is key to an effective emergency response, especially during a text-to-911 session," said Thomas Ginter, vice president, Safety & Security Group, TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. "Smart911Connect will allow us to seamlessly provide call takers utilizing TCS Smart911 with data from a number of different sources."
- "We allow citizens to take control of their personal well-being, including managing living wills, medical powers of attorney and specific medical requests," said Scott Campbell, CEO of Wellcase. "With Smart911Connect, we will be able to deliver critical care information directly to 9-1-1, ensuring first responders and medical professionals have the information needed to best support subscribers needs and wishes."
"We are gratified that so many leading companies have already embraced this partner eco-system for the sourcing and delivery of valuable additional data to 9-1-1 and first responders," said Tom Axbey, CEO of Rave Mobile Safety. "Working carefully with the 9-1-1 community, we have developed a program that will allow third parties holding relevant data to deliver that information automatically with an emergency call for service, and do so in a way that is trusted, reliable and reduces data overload."
