PALMA DE MALLORCA, Spain, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Smartee Denti-Technology concluded the Smartee European Summit 2026 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, on September 19, marking the company's first large-scale academic summit held outside China.
Smartee Launches SA/SA Plus and AG KIDS for International Markets
The two-day event brought together nearly 300 orthodontic experts and clinicians from 27 countries. Discussions covered GS Mandibular Repositioning Technology, the management of complex malocclusions, early orthodontic treatment, dental sleep medicine and airway-related care, alongside the international launch of two new products - Smartee SA/SA Plus and Smartee AG KIDS.
Opening the Summit, Junfeng Yao, Founder and CEO of Smartee, shared how the company is incorporating artificial intelligence into its products and systems, as well as into internal workflows designed to improve the efficiency of clinical support for doctors.
Across the two-day program, speakers from Europe and Asia shared clinical cases, research developments and treatment perspectives across several areas of orthodontic practice.
Exploring GS Technology and Complex Malocclusion Management
The first day focused on GS Mandibular Repositioning Technology and its clinical application in the management of malocclusions involving mandibular positional discrepancies.
Prof. Gang Shen of Taikang ByBo Dental, Chief Scientist for Smartee's GS R&D, opened the scientific program with a presentation on the development and clinical philosophy of the GS system. Together with Dr. Xingxing Wang, Clinical Medical Director at Smartee, he introduced the clinical rationale and application of mandibular repositioning from a three-dimensional perspective.
The program also featured Prof. Thomas Felkai of Semmelweis University in Hungary, Dr. Katarzyna Łoza-Sołtyk, President of the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics and Founder and Clinical Director of Soldent Clinic in Warsaw, Dr. Pratik Sharma, Chairman of the Orthodontic Specialist Advisory Board at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Mr. Matthias Peper, Founder and CEO of TP SOLUTION; as well as experienced orthodontists Dr. Carmen Pérez and Dr. María del Pilar Pérez.
Through clinical cases, speakers discussed diagnosis, treatment objectives, mandibular position assessment and treatment pathway selection for different types of malocclusion involving mandibular positional factors, including mandibular retrognathia, asymmetric Class II malocclusion and adult Class II treatment.
Speaking after the Summit, Prof. Shen emphasized that appropriate patient selection is an important prerequisite for mandibular repositioning.
"Mandibular position needs to be evaluated in the sagittal, vertical and transverse dimensions," he said. "The first step is to determine whether an abnormal mandibular position is present and then assess the direction of the discrepancy from a three-dimensional perspective."
He added that mandibular repositioning may offer an additional clinical approach for selected adults with Class II malocclusion, while further international clinical research and practice will be important as the field continues to develop.
Extending the Discussion to Early Orthodontics and Dental Sleep Medicine
The second day expanded the scientific program into two areas: early orthodontic treatment and clinical management for growing patients, and obstructive sleep apnea treatment and airway management.
The early orthodontics sessions examined treatment timing, interceptive treatment, craniofacial growth, airway-related assessment and orofacial myofunction therapy — spanning biological principles, clinical decision-making, and treatment approaches.
Speakers included Prof. Shen; Dr. Vicente Torres, Collaborating Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Valencia; Prof. Jane Shi, an expert in orofacial myofunctional therapy and an Examiner of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM); and Dr. Steffen Decker, the clinical lead of The Orthodontic Specialist and founder of GrowIQ Dental Academy; and experienced orthodontist Dr. Isabel Vélez Lagune.
The discussions reflected a broader approach to the assessment of growing patients, incorporating growth stage, craniofacial development, respiratory patterns and orofacial function alongside dental and occlusal considerations.
In a post-Summit interview, Prof. Jane Shi highlighted the importance of evaluating airway, breathing patterns and orofacial myofunction when developing early orthodontic treatment plans.
She noted that signs such as mouth breathing, abnormal tongue posture and narrow dental arches may indicate the need for further functional or multidisciplinary assessment, depending on the individual patient.
The afternoon sessions turned to dental sleep medicine and airway management.
Speakers included Prof. Antonio Gracco, Director of the Postgraduate School of Orthodontics at the University of Padua and former President of the Italian Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine; Dr. Francesca Milano, Adjunct Professor at the University of Padua and former President of the European Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine; and Dr. Yue Weng Cheu, Clinical Director at DP Dental in Singapore and Advisory Panel Member, Diploma in Oral Health Therapy at Nanyang Polytechnic.
Their presentations addressed scientific evidence in dental sleep medicine, the application of clear aligner technology in sleep-related care, and the relationship between pediatric airway considerations and craniofacial development.
Dr. Yue, the principal clinical collaborator of Smartee's newly launched product - AG KIDS, emphasized that orthodontists may identify potential risk indicators during routine clinical assessment, while the diagnosis of sleep-related breathing disorders should remain within the appropriate medical specialties.
For children presenting with higher-risk signs, he noted that further evaluation and management should involve appropriate multidisciplinary referral.
Prof. Gracco also shared clinical perspectives on snoring, obstructive sleep apnea and mandibular advancement appliances. He noted that oral appliances may form part of the management approach for appropriately selected patients, with treatment decisions based on professional assessment and individual clinical circumstances.
Smartee Launches SA/SA Plus and AG KIDS for International Markets
The Summit also served as the international launch platform for two Smartee product systems: Smartee SA/SA Plus and Smartee AG KIDS.
Smartee SA/SA Plus is designed to address clinical needs associated with primary snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The system incorporates a locking mechanism into clear aligner technology, providing an option for patients who may require both snoring-related management and orthodontic treatment.
Smartee AG KIDS is a craniofacial growth guidance system developed for patients aged 3 to 16. The system is designed to support growth management across the sagittal, vertical and transverse dimensions, together with orofacial myofunctional training appliances, providing clinicians with an integrated approach to managing dentofacial growth and development.
Building a Broader Platform for Global Academic Exchange
Following the scientific sessions, participating clinicians and partners highlighted the clinical relevance of the program, particularly its combination of case-based learning and cross-disciplinary discussion.
One attendee from the United Kingdom commented:
"We got to meet many interesting orthodontists and clinicians who approach treatment differently in different parts of the world. I found that really inspiring."
As Smartee's first large-scale academic summit held overseas, the Mallorca event marked a further step in the company's international academic development, moving beyond product and technology introduction toward broader clinical discussion across multiple disciplines.
Mr. Garie Zhou, Director of International Business at Smartee, said the company plans to continue developing international academic exchange, professional education and clinical research across areas including GS technology, early orthodontics and dental sleep medicine.
Through continued collaboration with doctors and partners across different markets, Smartee aims to support the exchange of clinical experience and the development and application of clear aligner technologies in international practice.
Following the Mallorca Summit, Smartee plans to continue expanding its international academic platform, with Rome planned as the next European Summit destination in 2027.
