SME Education Foundation Honors Alcoa Foundation with Outstanding Partner Award
Alcoa Foundation recognized for its continued support of the Education Foundation's national Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education Initiative
DEARBORN, Mich., May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The SME Education Foundation has awarded Alcoa Foundation with the 2016 Outstanding Partner honor for its continued support of the Education Foundation and its Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education (PRIME®) initiative. With Alcoa Foundation's backing, students, teachers, and high schools have access to 21st-century technology, equipment and curriculum, thus helping to create a sustainable, tailored approach to workforce development.

Alcoa Foundation has been a dedicated supporter of PRIME since 2011, and as one of the first funders of this initiative, the Pittsburgh-based organization has committed to investing a total of $750,000 through 2018. This funding is transforming manufacturing education programs at high schools near Alcoa facilities in southern California and Ohio.

The SME Education Foundation, which has given the Outstanding Partner Award to individuals and companies since 2008, presented Alcoa Foundation with its award at the annual SME International Awards Gala on May 15.
