KENOSHA, Wis., Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Snap-on Franchise has been named a Top 50 Franchise for Military Veterans and is the sole tool franchise recognized by the World Franchising Network. The second annual ranking by the organization resulted from a survey of several hundred franchise systems that recruit former military as possible business owners.
To be chosen among the Top 50, each franchisor must offer specific financial incentives for veterans, such as participation in the International Franchise Association's VetFran program. Snap-on offers honorably discharged veterans a $20,000 discount on their initial inventory purchase through VetFran. Franchises honored in the ranking were also considered for their number of operating units owned by veterans, along with the number of veterans among the ranks of senior management.
Snap-on Tools Group president of Sales and Franchising, Barrie Young, says of the ranking, "It's our honor to make a special effort to reach out to those who have served their country. Our chairman and CEO, Nick Pinchuk, himself a Vietnam veteran, has set the tone in recognizing veterans throughout Snap-on, and emphasizing the value they bring to our business. We have a recruiter with a military background, and offer former military franchising incentives. It's our way to say 'thank you' and to offer service men and women a career option when they transition into civilian life." Young says more former military than ever became a part of the Snap-on team in 2010, starting their own Snap-on franchise businesses across the U.S.
