MONTREAL, April 15, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that Neil Bruce has been appointed to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).This position was created to further improve and drive operational execution while focusing on delivering on our business plan andmeeting our commitments to shareholders, employees and other stakeholders. This appointment is effective immediately and the position is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Neil Bruce will continue to report to Robert G. Card, President and CEO.
This appointment will also further streamline operations across all our markets with a goal of further improving operational efficiency. In addition, the regional structure – called Global Operations – will be integrated into the business, while maintaining a geographic stewardship over each region. By simplifying the structure and making the operations more efficient and effective, the company will deliver its global-caliber expertise in local marketsmore effectively and better serve its clients' needs.
As a diversified engineering and construction company, SNC-Lavalin will leverage its joint operational capabilities and opportunitiesmore effectively . The focus will be on winning and delivering projects and services across four key markets – Power, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas, and Mining and Metallurgy. As such, SNC-Lavalin is further aligning its business structure with its markets. This alignment, together with the company's investment capabilities (ICI), will differentiate the way the company operates as it moves towards becoming a global Tier-1 engineering and construction firm.
Reporting to Neil Bruce will be a team of existing seasoned company leaders. Alexander (Sandy) Taylor, President, Power and Christian Brown, President, Oil & Gas will continue to occupy theircurrent positions. José Suárez, previously Executive Vice president, Integrated Management Systems is appointed Executive Vice President, Mining & Metallurgy. José has significant prior experience in this business in positions of leadership, business development and project management. Ian Edwards is appointed Executive Vice President, Infrastructure. He brings over 30 years of experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects and leading businesses in many sectors across a dozen countries.
In addition, Dale Clarke, previously Executive Vice president, Mining & Metallurgy is appointed Executive Vice President, Integrated Management Systems, reporting to Robert G. Card.
Hisham Mahmoud and Christian Jacqui will move on to the next steps in their careers, and will be leaving the company on May 1 and May 31, respectively, ensuring a smooth transition period.
Furthermore, Réjean Goulet, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, has announced his retirement from SNC-Lavalin after a highlight-filled career spanning nearly 30 years with the company, effective in July 2015. Mr. Goulet will continue to assist the company, beyond his retirement date on specific litigation matters, including the recently announced Federal charges. Jean-Éric Laferrière, currently Senior Vice-President, Legal Affairs, will assume the interim position while the company conducts a worldwide search to find Réjean Goulet's replacement.
