Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking Hires John Herrlin to Head U.S. Energy Research
NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking hired John P. Herrlin Jr. to head its oil and gas equity research in the U.S. where he will cover U.S. integrated energy companies as well as North American independents (E&Ps). He will be based in New York.
Mr. Herrlin joins Societe Generale Cross Asset Research department as the firm begins to create a targeted U.S. equity research platform focusing on key global areas of coverage, including oil, gas and natural resources companies, and financial services companies.
With the launch of its U.S. equity research coverage of the oil and gas industry, Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking now offers its global investor clients a full complement of first-rate energy research, ranging from the bank's leading European energy company coverage as well as Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking's oil commodity research which was ranked #1 by Risk magazine in 2009.
Mr. Herrlin joins the bank from Alpha One Capital Partners. Prior to that he spent 14 years at Merrill Lynch as an oil and gas analyst where he followed U.S. and Canadian E&Ps since 1999, and U.S. integrated energy companies since 2004.
Mr. Herrlin was Institutional Investor Magazine's top ranked oil and gas analyst for 6 years while at Merrill Lynch and was rated since 1994 in the E&P category. He has also covered the oil and gas industry at Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney.
Mr. Herrlin has an undergraduate degree in geology from the University of Montana, conducted graduate studies in geology from the University of Montana and Colorado School of Mines, and earned an MBA in finance and energy management from the University of Denver.
