WASHINGTON, Nov. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) is returning to the New York Marriott Marquis Times Square on December 8, 2014, for its 93rd Annual Dinner that will honor 2014 Performance Improvement Award winners and feature a Leadership and Business Development Speaker Showcase.
Hundreds of the specialty chemical industry's top executives and their customers attend this time-honored tradition to network with their peers and celebrate the association's accomplishments from throughout the year. This year's Annual Dinner will provide attendees with more networking opportunities than ever before, with Speed Networking, a Cocktail Reception and the return of a Cordials Reception that will be held after dinner.
A particular highlight of the evening is the ceremony recognizing SOCMA's Performance Improvement, Educational Outreach and Sustainability Award winners. The awards honor the achievements of ChemStewards® participants in environmental, health, safety and security measures, as well as their outreach and support of local educational programs in areas of chemistry, and implementation of sustainability practices to improve their facilities and communities in which they live.
SOCMA will also make a donation of $7,100 to the American Chemical Society's Scholars Program, which provides scholarships to underrepresented minority students pursuing a degree in chemistry or a related field.
For the second consecutive year, the Annual Dinner features a Leadership and Business Development Speaker Showcase preceding the evening's festivities.
Peter Tanous, an economist with Lynx Investment Advisory, LLC, is returning to the showcase to provide an outlook on the global economy, and Peter Brown of Notch Communications will discuss "Branding Essentials for Business Success."
The Unexpected Boys, who have amazed audiences and garnered international acclaim as the top Four Seasons tribute act in the world, will be the featured entertainment for the evening.
Following the Annual Dinner, SOCMA will hold its annual business meeting and elections on December 9. The day will conclude with a breakfast sponsored by the association's grassroots advocacy network, SOCMA CONNECT.
Registration fee for both the dinner and reception is waived for credentialed press, but space is limited. To RSVP, please contact Jennifer Drogus at (202) 721-4182. For hotel reservations, call 1-800-843-4898.
