RESTON, Va., Jan. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Softeon, with the industry's best track record of delivering supply chain success, announces today the continued expansion of its Distributed Order Management (DOM) functionality, with capabilities that have been deployed at a growing number of leading retailers.

The announcement comes in conjunction with the upcoming National Retail Federation Big Show in New York City beginning Jan. 15, where Softeon will be exhibiting its powerful DOM, Warehouse Management (WMS), advanced replenishment and other capabilities for retailers.

Distributed Order Management has become the essential application to enable multi-channel execution management, maximizing profits by optimally selecting the source for individual order fulfillment across DCs, stores, vendors and other points of fulfillment within the constraints of business and inventor policies and customer service commitments.

Softeon has been delivering industry-leading DOM functionality for several years, based on its powerful rules engine, seamless integration of DOM and WMS, and unique DOM capabilities in areas such as transportation/parcel shipping management, inventory control, and other execution processes.

But Softeon has taken DOM functionality even further, uniquely using its DOM platform to optimize the inbound flow of goods in addition to outbound omnichannel order fulfillment.

Softeon's DOM solution is currently providing these capabilities and substantial operational savings to one of the premier names in the omnichannel retail sector. In this application, Softeon's DOM starts by tracking the inbound flow of goods from offshore suppliers into US ports.

At port transload facilities, the Softeon DOM optimizes the retailer's inventory positions across the network. Upon receipt of vendor shipments, it determines in real-time what inventory should be sent to which stores, traditional DCs, third-party e-fulfillment centers, and other points of fulfillment. It makes these decisions based on current on-hand inventory levels at the retailer, business plans by channel, expected receipts, sales forecasts, promotions and more.

The solution ensures the right inventory is at the right fulfillment point, optimizing sell through and minimizing out of stocks and transportation costs. It also automated a manual process that took significant effort for the retailer to manage before the Softeon DOM was implemented.
