Software Solutions Firm Blue Horseshoe Set To Launch New Grants Management System for Major U.S. Children's Hospital

INDIANAPOLIS, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Horseshoe has implemented a new grants management software solution for a major U.S. children's hospital. Next month, Blue Horseshoe plans to launch the Lawson Software Grants Management module for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

As a pediatric healthcare system with three hospitals and 16 neighborhood locations, Children's receives federal grant money for research. With the use of the module that Blue Horseshoe has implemented, Children's will have the capability to automatically and systematically track all grant funding and appropriations. With more than 7,500 employees, Children's utilizes Lawson software for all Financial, Procurement and HR and Benefits Processing. The hospital selected Blue Horseshoe to manage the upgrade for its Lawson Software Suite of Applications. Work started in mid-2008 and resulted in a successful launch in 2009.

After a year of support and more improvements to the system, Blue Horseshoe then developed a series of interfaces between the hospital's Lawson software and its benefits advisors, allowing for greater efficiencies and optimizing ancillary business processes.

Children's is now able to track the receipt and use of its inventory utilizing hand-held devices, capabilities made possible by Blue Horseshoe's upgrade of Children's software to the Lawson 9.0.1 environment release and installation of a new Mobile Supply Chain solution for the hospital. The solution will save time, eliminate manual entry and decrease the possibility of human error, Sprague said.

Blue Horseshoe also developed a series of interfaces between Lawson and the Children's benefits providers and agencies, further saving the company hundreds of hours of labor-intensive activities and resulting in significantly increased productivity.
