Solo New York Announces Design Team Promotions
Company's continued growth creates new opportunities: Hayley Lawson to take over as Director of Product Design; Adam Courter now Design Project Manager
NEW YORK, July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Solo New York, a leading, urban-inspired designer of backpacks, totes, duffels, briefs, and sleeves, today announced two promotions within its growing design team: Hayley Lawson will become Director of Product Design, where she will oversee company-wide design of Solo New York's product line. Adam Courter will become Design Project Manager, where he will assume additional managerial oversight of Solo collections for major retailers as well as capsule collections.
Since its founding in 2008, Solo New York has consistently unveiled new designs for major retailers and urban professionals looking for stylish, durable bags built to carry and protect laptops and other ubiquitous technology. Today, Solo New York is one of the biggest and fastest-growing bag brands in North America and is expanding globally. According to NPD data, several Solo New York designs are in the top five North American sales categories.
Lawson has been with Solo New York since 2011 and has overseen design for the company's sizable and growing OEM division. From an early age, Lawson loved creating products, and this passion for design grew as she held high-level positions with brands including Reebok, New Balance, Ben Sherman, Nike, Under Armour, and Fila. Lawson graduated from The University of Central Lancashire in England with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design, and is a best-selling author, publishing her first book in 2014.
For more than 10 years, Courter has been designing bags and tablet sleeves for Solo New York and has designed over 20 cohesive collections, including the brand's popular Highland Collection, as well as hundreds of individual private label/OEM products. Courter has also managed market research and keeps ahead of style trends by immersing himself in trade shows, retail spaces, and WGSN trends. Before Solo, Courter was an inventor/designer at an intellectual properties firm and he graduated with a BFA in Industrial Design from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
