BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SonicWALL, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent network security and data protection solutions, today announced that Grupo IntecSer, the organizer of 2011 FIBA Americas Championship, has selected the SonicWALL NSA 4500, TZ100, SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio and the SonicWALL Global Management System (GMS) to provide secure Wi-Fi access for participating athletes, over 300 journalists covering the championship, as well as event staff. 2011 FIBA Americas Championship is the most important basketball event on the South American continent. At the event, teams from participating countries compete for qualification to the 2012 Olympics in London.
"Journalists today require immediate accessibility to the Internet to upload event coverage and media," said Ricardo Marchetti, president of Grupo IntecSer. "Similarly, event organizers and their staff require Internet access to sell tickets and to access local and remote online resources needed for the event. Both wired and wireless communications must be secure and readily available."
Grupo IntecSer will implement one central SonicWALL NSA 4500 inside the main stadium, which will manage four SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio access points for Wi-Fi connectivity to Internet access via a 40 Mbps connection. In addition, multiple TZ100 appliances, each controlling a SonicPoint-Ni Dual-Band will be used in large tents around the main stadium where DSL drops are provided.
