LONDON, Dec. 13, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Ericsson is offering fans an opportunity to participate in photosharing through a brand new Facebook contest located on its global Facebook page. For a chance to win an Xperia™ X10 mini pro or Xperia™ X10 mini, fans can simply upload an imaginative, unique or cute image of something mini to the Sony Ericson Mini Magic app before January 17, 2011.
As the development of mobile technologies continues to grow at a rapid rate, more and more users are now on the lookout for new and innovative ways to put their high-quality smartphone cameras to use. As a result, a new trend has quickly taken shape in the world of social media, with users now capturing photos from their smartphones and instantly sharing them across their multiple social networks for all their friends and followers to see. This has led to a number of new photosharing applications to appear, such as Instagram, PicPlz and Path, whereby users post images through conversation feeds much in the same way as they do with Twitter - sharing their images, activities and locations across their multiple social media networks.
With the launch of Mini Magic, which celebrates the recent success of the Xperia™ X10 mini winning European Mobile Phone of the Year 2010 – 2011, Sony Ericsson is embracing this recent growth in social photosharing by encouraging users to capture the most innovative and creative miniature picture they can find and upload their efforts to the Sony Ericsson Facebook page. Once an entrant has submitted their image and it has been approved, users can then share their entries with their Facebook and Twitter followers to encourage others to upload their own images and vote for their favourites. Facebook users will be able to visit the online gallery and cast their votes for the images they like best, with the top twenty images being put forward into the final. Five lucky winners will win an Xperia™ X10 mini pro, with the five runners-up winning an Xperia™ X10 mini.
Additionally, Sony Ericsson is also offering fans with a Facebook account the opportunity to create their own mini-version of themselves via the Mini Magic avatar maker. Users can create their very own Facebook avatar using a huge range of customised options, including hairstyles, clothing, shoes, and accessories. Once users have created their mini avatar, the avatar images can then be posted and shared with friends and followers across multiple social media networks.
