South Main Baptist Church Proudly Presents the US Army Chorus Live!

HOUSTON, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday November 22^nd, 2014 at 6 pm, the sounds of time honored marches and verses will echo throughout the sanctuary of South Main Baptist Church in Midtown.  The church is proud to host a free community performance by the United States Army Chorus, for one night only!

The US Army Chorus, part of the larger "Pershing's Own" US Army Band is an all-male ensemble made up of active US Army servicemen.  It is one of the few professional-level men's choruses in the US, and arguably the one with the most history.  Established in 1956 as a "vocal counterpart" to the pre-established Army Band, the Chorus has carried on the tradition of entertaining audiences around the country for over 50 years.  In this half-century, the chorus has performed for every US President, as well as numerous world dignitaries such as the Pope and the Queen of England.  The Chorus has also been personally called upon to perform at the openings of the presidential libraries for presidents Gerald R. Ford, Ronald W. Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush, The US Army Chorus is thrilled to be making a rare stop outside of the Washington D.C. metro area in Houston on this current tour.

Under the direction of CPT Curtis N. Kinzey, audiences can expect to hear a varied and exciting program on Saturday evening.  The Chorus has covered everything from classic hymns, to patriotic standards; from classic musical selections, to more modern classics.

Each performance by the US Army Chorus is absolutely free to the public, and South Main Baptist Church is honored to host this unique and lively event that will be enjoyed by Houstonians of all ages.  No tickets are necessary for the event, but seating is first come, first served until full.  Doors open at 5:00 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:00 pm.
