SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- South Texas Money Management, Ltd. (STMM) announced that it has been recently acknowledged by CEFEX, Centre for Fiduciary Excellence, LLC, as being certified for 10 years. STMM was among the first Investment Managers to successfully complete the independent certification process, which was first offered in the United States in 2006.
CEFEX, Centre for Fiduciary Excellence, LLC, is an independent certification organization that works with industry experts to provide comprehensive assessment programs to improve the fiduciary practices of investment stewards, advisors, record keepers, managers and support services firms. CEFEX is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
The CEFEX certification requires annual assessments, which include the collection and review of operational and investment data to substantiate the existence of processes and procedures according to the criteria described in the applicable standard for investment managers. On-site visits are conducted to interview key management and verify process implementation. Assessments are performed by independent analysts who subsequently present recommendations for certification to the CEFEX Registration Committee.
