Special Needs Surfing Event, "They Will Surf Again," Inspires Participants to DREAM BIG
Supporting local adaptive surfing event in the South Texas area
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, March 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dreaming big and overcoming obstacles in spite of the odds, are the inspiration for the "They Will Surf Again" event coming to Port Aransas in June. Houston-based wheelchair accessible vehicle and adaptive equipment provider, Adaptive Driving Access, partners with BraunAbility and Life Rolls On to bring the great state of Texas the widely popular adaptive surfing event.
"Everyone living with paralysis deserves to feel the exhilarating freedom that surfing brings to me." Said Jesse Billauer, the founder of the Life Rolls Foundation. "While surfing back in 1996 I was thrown headfirst into a shallow sandbar. The impact broke my sixth vertebrae and I instantly became a quadriplegic. My story didn't end that day in the ocean. With the help of the surf community, I got back into the sport I loved and in 2015, I became the world champion of adaptive surfing." Volunteers and surfers will meet and assist individuals with spinal cord injuries, as they venture into the surf to experience the joy of surfing.
Mark Toler, Adaptive Driving Access of Corpus Christi store Manager, explains, "Our company believes this is a great opportunity to help raise awareness for adaptive sports in the South Texas area. Life Rolls on has events all over the United States and I believe Texas should have the same opportunity as the other LRO destinations."
