Speediance Maps Its Next Chapter: From a Smart Home Gym to an AI-Powered Fitness Company

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 18, Speediance outlined a strategic shift from a company known primarily for one smart home gym to an AI-powered fitness company built around a broader hardware portfolio, specialized intelligence and a connected user experience.

The transition begins with a significant expansion of the company's hardware portfolio. After establishing its presence with Gym Monster 2, Speediance is moving from a single hero product to four products with distinct roles: Gym Monster Ultra as the flagship strength system, Gym Monster 3 for the home, Gym Nano for portable digital resistance and performance measurement, and Speediance Strap for core-body-temperature trends and recovery context across the ecosystem.

Alongside its hardware portfolio, Speediance is developing three complementary AI capabilities — Votus, Oryn and Somni — and bringing them together through AEVIS, an AI-powered experience layer designed to carry relevant context across training, recovery and daily life.

A Strategic Turn: From One Product to a Fitness Platform

Founded in 2020, Speediance built its early identity around Gym Monster and digitally controlled resistance. Gym Monster 2 established the company's core proposition: professional-grade strength training made more accessible through connected hardware and software.

The company's next phase broadens that proposition. Instead of asking one product to serve every setting and every user, Speediance is building a portfolio in which each device has a clear job and contributes a different type of information or training capability to the wider system.

Four Products, Four Roles

Gym Monster Ultra — the flagship. Built for advanced strength training, Gym Monster Ultra offers up to 260 pounds of digital resistance, 33 cable positions, a vertical high-lat pulldown, multi-grip pull-up setup and adjustable thigh restraint. It represents the fullest expression of the company's strength-training platform.

Gym Monster 3 — the home platform. Designed as the next-generation intelligent home training system, Gym Monster 3 delivers up to 220 pounds of digital resistance with 19 adjustable cable positions in a freestanding design that requires no wall mounting.

Gym Nano — portable resistance and performance measurement. The 8.2-kilogram system delivers up to 220 pounds of digital resistance while providing real-time velocity and power information. It also supports assessments including peak force, rate of force development and left-right asymmetry.

Speediance Strap — physiological context for the ecosystem. The screen-free wearable incorporates greenteg Calera® technology to track wrist-based core-body-temperature trends. Those trends can add context around training, recovery, sleep and heat load, extending the Speediance experience between workouts.

Together, the four products create multiple entry points into the Speediance ecosystem: flagship strength, everyday home training, portable performance and continuous recovery context. The portfolio also gives the company a richer physical and data foundation for its next transformation.

From Connected Hardware to an AI-Powered Fitness Company

Speediance's ambition now extends beyond making connected equipment. The company is building an intelligence layer intended to understand how a person moves, assess what training or recovery decision may be appropriate, and reason about how today's choices could affect what comes next.

That layer is organized around three specialized capabilities, each addressing a different part of the training journey.

Votus — movement understanding. Using video from a single phone camera, Votus is designed to reconstruct human movement in 3D and analyze exercise execution as movement takes place. Speediance has demonstrated it for movement analysis and velocity-based training, adding signals such as repetition speed to more conventional workout data.

Oryn — training and recovery decisions. Oryn is focused on exercise, nutrition and sleep. It is being developed to assess a broader picture of the user and support decisions such as maintaining a planned session, adjusting training load, changing the focus of a workout or prioritizing recovery.

Somni — possible future states. Somni is Speediance's human-state world-model research project. It explores how different training and recovery choices could influence possible future states, including fatigue, sleep, appetite and capacity to tolerate training, and is designed to reason across possible trajectories rather than predict one outcome with certainty. Somni is a technology preview and is not intended for medical diagnosis or treatment.

AEVIS Brings the Intelligence Together

AEVIS is the user-facing experience layer that connects these capabilities over time. Now available in public beta as a standalone iOS app in 105 markets, it is designed to maintain relevant context around training history, available physiological and recovery signals, sleep, nutrition and daily schedules, then allow that context to influence subsequent decisions as circumstances change.

When paired with Apple Watch, AEVIS can use available health and activity data across training, recovery, sleep and daily activity without requiring Speediance training hardware. For Gym Monster users, it can also work with detailed workout data such as training load, sets, repetitions, repetition timing and changes in movement performance. AEVIS can create customized workouts and send them directly to Gym Monster for the user to perform.

In a demonstration, a user told AEVIS about an upcoming six-hour round-trip drive. AEVIS recommended a lower training load and greater emphasis on sleep and recovery. After the workout, AEVIS used available workout information, movement video and heart-rate data to reassess the situation, shifting the subsequent plan toward mobility and active recovery.

The point is continuity: a schedule change can influence a workout, the workout can add new evidence, and that evidence can shape what follows. Under the hood, AEVIS uses a health-focused software architecture with layered short-, medium- and long-term memory designed for training and health context, supporting longer-horizon and multi-step workflows across different tools.

The CARE Loop: From Data to Action

Speediance calls this operating model the CARE Loop: Collect, Analyze, Recommend and Execute. The system collects relevant data across training, recovery and daily activity; analyzes that information with AI; recommends classes, workouts and plans based on the available context; and brings those recommendations into action through Gym Monster and the broader Speediance ecosystem.

Each completed activity can contribute new information to the next cycle, allowing the experience to become more connected and responsive over time. In this model, AI is not a feature added on top of hardware. It is the intelligence layer that links data, decisions and physical training.

That direction is still being developed. AEVIS does not currently control Gym Monster resistance autonomously, and deeper integration between Speediance's AI capabilities and its training hardware remains on the company's roadmap.
