Spinnaker Complements their World Class Supply Chain Consulting Services with the Addition of a Returns Management Consulting Offering
Industry Veteran Jack DeButts joins Spinnaker to lead Returns Management Consulting Practice
DENVER, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Spinnaker, the leader in supply chain consulting and execution services today announces the launch of a Returns Management Practice. The new practice, focused on Returns Management, will help companies design and develop business strategies for managing the reverse supply chain and improve processes and technology solutions to unlock the value of returning products.
Within many industries, companies regard returns as a "necessary evil" and focus their attention on defective products or reverse logistics transport. Responsibility for managing the reverse supply chain is often dispersed among teams focused on forward logistics, and opportunities are lost as returned inventory piles up and potentially valuable supply is ignored or mismanaged. Research has shown that improving the management of returns is a significant opportunity for companies to recover cost associated with the returned asset, align forward and reverse operations, and improve financial performance.
"As companies mature, they realize that opportunities are being missed in the reverse supply chain," says John Sharkey, Vice President of Spinnaker's Supply Chain Consulting Practice. "Our Returns Management Consulting Services help companies strategically assess, design and implement solutions to better manage their returning products and discover hidden business opportunities."
Jack DeButts has joined Spinnaker to lead the new practice. Most recently with Dell, Mr. DeButts has over 25 years of experience in the Medical Device, Retail, Consumer Electronics, Telecommunications, and Industrial Manufacturing industries, and is a leader in the reverse logistics community. In addition to Dell, his experience includes working with companies such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Staples, ATT, Sprint, and Verizon on reverse logistics programs.
"Jack's diverse industry experience makes him an excellent resource to lead this practice and consult on returns and operations management in a variety of environments," says Sharkey. "With his domestic and international experience on a wide variety of supply chain initiatives including sourcing and procurement, planning, logistics, warehousing, and inventory control, Jack is an excellent addition to our team."
Mr. DeButts is an active speaker and thought leader in the reverse logistics community and has been on the Consumer Returns Advisory Board for 3 years. At the Consumer Returns Conference, held at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Center on Sept 20-23, 2013, he moderated several panel discussions including "Cost Effectively Compressing the Reverse Supply Chain" and "Implementing End-To-End Solutions for Reverse Logistics". Mr. DeButts has spoken on a range of topics at the Reverse Logistics Association annual meetings from green disposal to managing reverse logistics beyond the US borders.
